How Faith Works for Teenagers
HOW FAITH WORKS
How to Receive a Miracle
God kind of faith is necessary; for without faith it is impossible to please God; those who come to Him must believe that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Believe you already have the miracle and thank God for it in advance. Expectation is the mother of manifestation. Daily confess your blessings.
- Praise and worship the Lord right in the midst of your situations. This is a heartfelt and boiling hot praise. This is the kind of praise that attracts the attention of heaven to act on your behalf. The power of praise drives back the enemy and brings down the blessings you are waiting for.
- Be obedient to the Spirit of the Living God. To obey is better than sacrifice. Whatever the Holy Spirit of God tells you to do, do it with joy.
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not listen to the devil. Only God must you trust for your needs, not financial institutions
5. Confess the Word of God daily; for the Word of God is powerful and sharper than any two edged sword and able to bring down every stronghold of the enemy in your life. Let the Word of God renew your mind.
6. Be humble in dealing with other fellow human being. God resist the proud and gives grace to the humble.
7. The miracle of God must lead you to a life of perfection and holiness.
8. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, your soul and all you might.
9. Resist the devil: Be careful with your tongue. Do not let your tongue, i.e. the Word of your mouth and the thought of your heart steal your miracle. Murmuring, complaining and criticising is a blessing destroyer. Stop it. Those who love murmuring and criticising will never receive anything from the Lord.
- God is faithful and trustworthy and He will give you the desire of your heart. Trust Him, Love Him and reverence Him. “The reward of humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, honour, and life.”
The LORD will make you abound in prosperity.

THE MATTER OF MARTHA (Part 3)
Seeing Jesus Makes You a Better person.
Three major things take place in the life of anyone who sees Jesus genuinely- a feeling of inadequacy and moral dirtiness is the first. A typical example is Isaiah who said in Isaiah 6 “4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.””) The second is an interruption of personal life journey and a declaration of the clear original divine purpose is the third. Jesus told Saul in verse 6 of Acts chapter 9 to get up and go into the city where he would be told what he must do and verse 16 Jesus told him saying “I myself will show him all that he must suffer for his name sake” you see the way Jesus crashed into the young man’s personal life journey of “arrest and kill” to a sudden blind man who will later hold firmly the flag of Jesus? It wasn’t easy but who dare says no when Jesus comes to double cross your way and plans? You are not your own says the scriptures, you were bought by a price, so honour Christ in your body. That’s why I pity so many young people who spend their bodies and life to please themselves. When the owner is ready to interrupt their plans, they will be powerless- I tell you! Go and ask Paul the Apostle.
That reminds me of my second experience with Jesus. After my first experience with Jesus that led to my surrendering to him, I was baptized and began to undergo discipleship using the book, Follow the master. Follow the master is an interesting discipleship tool that highlights a step by step approach to follow Jesus Christ as your new master. It is designed in such a way that a new follower of Jesus sees him or herself as an apprentice who learns from the master. Specifically, that material is divided into six sections with deep scriptural pattern to become webbed with Jesus in lifestyle. In that book, I learnt to make Jesus the centre of my life as I establish a cordial relationship with him in a daily quiet time for a dialogical communication. Next to that was to learn that I belong to a big family-the body of Christ and so as each member of the body is very important so that if one part surfers, the whole body surfer too and if a member rejoices, all others feel the same, irrespective of the size and position it occupies in the body. So also every member irrespective of age, status and gender, is very important in the body of Christ. I pity the church or cell group that do not see and take teenagers and young people to be very important as the elders or other well positioned members. Such church will soon lose relevance and will soon cease to exist, I tell you. We all have specific function for the building up of the body. Furthermore, I was thought that there are two natures that war in me-the flesh and the spirit. What caught my attention here was that I as an individual decides who wins between the flesh and the spirit. So if a thought to tell a lie emerges in my heart as a child of God, the spirit of the Lord that I was given when I surrendered my life to Jesus, reminds me that all liars shall find themselves in the lake of fire and by the way, Satan is the father of lies and by implication, the father of all liars. Now, that struggle to have me continues between them until I now ignore either of them. Whichever one that I ignore renders the other one to emerge as the winner in the fight against my soul. Therefore, I decide the winner of the battle over my soul. The implication of this is that, every child of God needs to strengthen his or her faith in Christ from a regular participation in the church worship services and in constant prayers. Or else, a child of god can be so weak spiritually as to give the winning order to the flesh rather than the spirit. You remember that the scriptures says, pray without ceasing and so Jesus had to exemplify that by praying and fasting for 40 days, he usually withdrew to the mountain to pray all night and even on the day of his arrest by the Roman soldiers, he was on the mountain to pray to draw strength for the next phase of his life. In fact, when he saw Peter and the rest of the disciples sleeping, he challenged them to pray so that they will not fall into temptation. But the lack of prayer landed Peter in big mess- he fought and cut someone’s ear, he fled from Jesus and denied him three times and so on. Falling into any temptation is as a result of spiritual weakness which can be conquered by constant effective prayers and charged by holding hands in hands with those who are spiritually matured. After the big lesson about two nature, next was the lesson about three stages of salvation- Salvation past, salvation present and salvation future. This had been a big issue among some Christians who say, once you are saved, you are saved forever. That cannot be correct. I came to agree that, once you surrender your life to Jesus, you are saved. However, after being saved, do you still face issues of life that challenge your faith in Christ Jesus on a daily basis? Yes. In that case, there would be a need to constantly work out your salvation from the source of such challenges on a daily basis. Therefore, on a daily basis, you will be trusting God through Jesus not to fall into sin. And once you overcome that of today, it does not mean that you will not face the same and many others tomorrow. And that is how it will be until Jesus returns to take his people home. Now do you remember that only those who stand in faith- who kept their faith-who, despite the challenges on daily basis, they were always being saved from fallings, they are the ones that will eventually be caught up to meet with Christ in the sky when the trumpet shall sound? By implication, those who were being saved on the daily basis will be saved forever from sin, Satan and the world to reign with Jesus in eternity. By my analysis, you will discover that there are three stages of salvation- the salvation of new birth, then salvation from daily challenges of faith and then future salvation that rescues one finally from this world, sin, Satan and death. So if one claims to be saved and then faced with sinful challenges again and he falls into it, do you think that your salvation is still intact? So why will apostle Paul say, will you continue in sin and expect that the grace of God continues? No, Never! Grace, is one of the packages in the salvation that is obtained in Jesus through his blood. Therefore, if grace will stop as a result of continuous sinning, then it means that salvation that houses that grace had stopped also. Friend, salvation can be lost. Period!
I went further to gain more understanding about four sources of authority. Generally, people gain authority from four sources but among the four of them Bible remains the true and highest source of authority. Do you know what struck me the most about the Bible being the highest source of authority? It is the fact that it is beyond just the compendium of the voice of God in black and white but that it is God himself. It is written that the Word became flesh. That is why it gives life and it is sharper than any two edged sword- it penetrates to the flesh, bone, marrow, spirit and soul-Kai! And also discerns the intents of the heart! Haba!!! Do you remember when Satan came to tempt Jesus after fasting for 40 days and night, He quoted the Word of God and Satan bowed and left Him. Mama Faith Oyedepo was critically sick many years ago to the point of death. I heard Bishop Oyedepo say that the word of God was played to her ears per second and healing came- Bible says, He sent his word unto them and His Word heals them. What more authority do you want than that?
You know everything has principles. The principle behind walking is by taking your leg one after the other, the principle of academic success is by attending the classes and studying consistently, the principle of wealth is by putting your hands to work and application of financial intelligence skills- do what the rich do and you will be rich. There is a principle for physical sound health and spiritual sound heath. You want to prosper in anything, just learn the principle behind it and get it done. Life is governed by principles. In the same way, Kingdom blessing has a principle. You cannot decide not to plant during the planting season and then decide to harvest yam during the harvest season- did you plant yam?! Kingdom Principle is in soul winning. That is the seed upon which to qualify for kingdom blessing. Scriptures says, seek ye first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you…the interpretation of that is look out for means of sowing in the kingdom business in the right time, then all your needs shall be met. And what is the only business of the kingdom- seeking those that are lost! Jesus said, I have not come for the healthy but for the sick. For the will of my father is what I have come to do. Have ever heard that Jesus struggled or was bothered about what to eat, drink, wear, live in, his failing health,- non! But he had all that he needed at all times. So the last aspect of that discipleship material was about this secrete of accessing kingdom blessing- soul winning. Hence there was a need to have a plan for that. It was rightly put thus, “five and five plan” meaning, find out five people who will not listen to your salvation story and continue to pray and check up on them until they eventually encounter Christ Jesus and grow in Him. Also find five other people who accept Jesus through your testimony and be involved in their daily spiritual growth. You would not believe that all that I shared with you on the matter of that discipleship material was offhand. Whereas after 28 years of such relationship, it is still fresh in my memory because it had become a life principle and made me a better person. You cannot claim to see Jesus and all things about you would not change – first in your relationship with God through the way you relate with people, environment and other things around you. Seeing Jesus will change your value system and what you value determines your pursuit. Or how do you tell me that after you saw Jesus, there was no difference between your old and new habit? Everything must change- your communication pattern, your conducts everywhere-home, school, at play, in church,- everywhere. Your dress sense must change, sex life, prayer life, time accrued for Bible study, your desire for things of the Spirit, where you go, who you hang with, what you think about, what you watch, what you put in your mouth, what you spend your time on and all. Bible says old things will pass away and behold all things become new. Your attitude to your academics, work, ministry, home, attitude toward money, marriage, parent and a lot more must wear a new look- You can’t tell me that you saw Jesus and nothing changed in your life. Seeing Jesus makes you a better person. And off course, no one goes through this experience and not receive revelation from the Lord for assignment for the Kingdom.
So when I saw Jesus the second time, it was in a dream. That night, I was driven out of a house to bring certain people into the house. While I was outside of the house, I saw that there was a beautiful and unexplainable golden light in the house that I will never want to miss while everywhere around the house was covered with thick darkness. I had a lot of voices crying and begging me to lead them into the house full of the golden light. Although I could not see them but I could feel the intense desperation to get into that house. Then I heard a voice that instructed me to wake up from my sleep and read Joshua Chapter 1: 5-8. And I woke immediately. The echo of the voice sounded louder in my hears again and so it forced me out of my bed to check what that passage of the scripture actually was talking about because it sounded urgent. As I switched on the light in the dining room around 1 o clock that fateful day, I patiently but with much anticipation of what could that information be. Now read what I saw on that fateful midnight, it was too striking.
Joshua 1:5-8. “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
You would not believe it that after reading this few verses, it sounded as if someone was speaking audibly into my ears with such power that cannot be refuted. Something like an electric current sparked and laced through my entire body and I felt like a deep hunger to pray. I placed my head on the Bible and some strange words were coming out of my mouth that I found so difficult to stop. I was overwhelmed beyond control that night. It looked as if Jesus was talking to me right in my ears. As if he was standing right beside me and his presence was too electrifying as he said that just as he was with Moses, he will be with me for I am the one to lead a certain set of people to their promised land. Kai! I saw Jesus literarily talking to me from that scriptures.
But while I was deep in that experience and prayer mood, another voice interrupted my emerging fire to pray. The voice said, “ open your eyes and cross check the Bible and see who God was talking to”. Do you know that the flow in the spirit suddenly stopped as I yielded to that instruction. He was correct, I said and then hissed. I closed up the Bible and made my way back to my room to continue with my sleep. But as I pulled the handle of the door, I heard the voice of the sweet Holy Spirit again. He said, son, can you go back and cross check verse 9 of that passage before you quit? I did but with reluctancy. Eh! What I read, spark again in me a greater dimension of spiritual electrocution that made me lose control of my physical body to the point of rattling in tongue from past one o clock am to six o clock AM and it seemed to me as if I just began to pray- I was full of unusual strength.
Scriptures says you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon you(Acts 2:8).
Permit me to stop here for this week. We shall continue next week.

THE MATTER OF MARTHA (Part 2)
Seeing Jesus, Reveals Purpose
The experience usually left me to shiver whenever I reflect on the awesomeness of the saving power of Jesus Christ through the atoning sacrifice he made for the entire human race. It was in that experience that I found my purpose after my total surrender to Jesus Christ my Lord. Rick Warren in his book, Purpose driven life, said that everyone must ask the question, what am on earth to do? Until we find such answers, we may never be effective and influential. In addition, Myles Munroe in 2003 said that purpose is knowing what you were created to do and committed to doing it before you die. That captures even the fulfilment of purpose. One cannot be happy without finding the reason for existence and getting it done at all costs. In the light of my experience that I shared last week, God retreated to me that I was formed in my mother’s womb just like Jeremiah of the biblical times and he had raised me to serve his purpose and that was why he led my grandfather to give that name “Christopher”- Christ’s bearer. You know when I was born, I was named Christopher. I gave no attention to that name as I grew up until when I was called into full time pastoral ministry when I realised that the name Christopher is derived from the Greek word Christóforos, meaning “bearer of Christ.” It is composed of two Greek elements Christós (Christ) and phero (to bear, carry). How that name was given to me by my grandfather who could neither speak English nor write is a mystery to me. But the fact remains that I was originally raised to carry the name of Jesus professionally and when it was the due time, I began to carry the name of Jesus. Although I never understood that he wanted me to be a pastor but there had been that feeling of serving God in me all along.
It is obviously clear to me that Jesus could adopt any means to reveal himself to anyone who He decides to save and He has the idea in Him what he wants to use the life of whoever He saves for. That brings the method that he used to safe Saul of Tarsus to bear. Saul, a religious scholar who was notoriously innocent in serving the Almighty God, believes that God is just one and has no son because he has no wife. He was well groomed in school by Prof. Gamaliel to view such lifestyle as blasphemy against God. He had rose to the position of authority and power in the entire nation to be a religious scholar and so anything he says was robber stamped to be authentic. He was really a great man, powerful man , a man of outstanding authority and influence. No man could stop him when he determines to do anything especially for his religion even to the point of killing whoever blasphemed because such was punishable by death according to the Jewish tradition. So people feared him as well as Christians. There was an upsurge of such fear after he arrested Stephen too, one of the latest chosen deacons of the early church who was in charge of hospitality/welfare ministry for the disciples but went beyond serving food because he was full of the Holy Spirit. So he preached the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ vehemently and fearlessly because he believed that Jesus was worth dying for if He could suffer that much for us all. He was worth our love the more. Moreso that there is a better life after this cruel life as promised by Jesus himself. Stephen was therefore arrested by Saul and supervised his death as well. Even at death, Stephen saw Jesus again. He said Jesus was sitting at the right hand of God (Acts 7:55). That strengthened the fact that Jesus is still alive as he claimed, giving the promise to return to take the faithful to himself in the new city that he had gone to build. But you know what, as cruel, religious, stone hearted as Saul was, when He saw Jesus too. Saul saw Jesus on his way to Damascus. He was on his way to arrest more Christians and bring them bound to Jerusalem when a bright light shun on him which lead to his crash landing and blinded. He saw Jesus in that experience and all he kept asking was if the person that he saw was the Lord. Yes, I am Jesus, the one who you are persecuting. He heard the voice and met with Jesus. There is no one who Jesus reveals himself to that will not be totally transformed. You can fake seeing Jesus. The experience is not what one can orchestrate. –To be continued next week

THE MATTER OF MARTHA (Part 1)
I saw Jesus
In April, 1994, I saw Jesus. That was the first time I met face to face with Him and I will explain this in detail. I had gone to the church on that fateful day- Central Baptist Church, ring road, Benin city in Edo state, for Easter eve(Good Friday ) celebration. The service began with heart touching and lifting hymns that sent goose pimples all over the skin because of the presence of the holy Spirit. Just as Catharine Cullman affirmed. She said If the Holy Ghost is present, you will know it absolutely. The light in the church auditorium changed as multi coloured stage light beamed and dashed across the length and breadth of the long auditorium, for the first time and I cannot explain for what reason, fear gripped my heart and the entire body began to shake right on the long pew where I sat. I had not recover from it then all of a sudden I was hit again the more by the power of the Holy Ghost so that my hand and legs were vibrating in an increasing measure. In a few moment a playlet about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ softly and subtly crept in especially when Jesus was being flogged along the way to Golgotha, with a heavy cross on his shoulder. What has he done that he had to be treated with such cruelty was the heart cutting thought that overwhelmed me. In the heat of these whole experiences, the sermon with the title, “ The Man of Sorrow” sounded like thunder in my ears. The message had not gone half way when suddenly it looked as if everywhere I was rolled off my face and I when I saw myself in a strange land full of crushed rocks and looked like an abandoned environment. I was alone walking in that expanse of land in fear because everywhere resembled a black and white horror movie-like grave yard. Then I heard someone called my name- it was not difficult to at all to identify the voice in my heart so I needed not to even ask whether it was the voice of Jesus or not. I scanned quickly at the nook and cranny of the wide expanse and right far away, a cross upon which someone was hanging without any cloth on him emerged amidst a cloud that was pulling apart. That is Jesus! I mustered in my heart and it reflected from my mouth, it is Jesus! Audibly, I heard him called me by my name just the way he called the young Samuel at night in that temple. The voice called softly my name repeatedly and with trembling I walked towards the cross until I got to the base of the tall rough and unpolished wood that seemed as if it was just felled in the forest. I fell on my knees with my palms holding my head as if in fear of someone who wants to knock my head with an object, sobbing for what I never could tell. I just felt unworthy, dirty and fearful. I was trying to gather myself together but I could not, it was all more like a reflex action and more of the control of a force that I could not explain. Then he called me again and said,” Tayo” I did this for you, come unto me. I began to shake the more to the point that I could not raise up my head to behold the face of the one who was right on the cross, however, I was forced to look up and that was when I discovered that his feet that was nailed to the wood was far above my head even if I stood under that cross. While on my knees right on the pieces of rocks under the feet of my saviour, fresh blood that was flowing from his feet from the wound of the big nails that was used to fasten his feet to the tree was dropping on my head. It ran down my cheeks to my neck and chest. While I wept profusely, I heard his voice again saying, Christopher,(Reason I like to be called Chris.) for you, I did this to redeem you from sin and the devil. In actual fact, it was there that he told me that I was created and preserved to serve his purpose. Then he removed his two hands from the nails on the cross, bent over as if supporting the weight of his body that was hung on the cross with my head although I was not feeling his weight at all. As he laid his hands on my head, I wept louder and looked up using my hands to grasp his wrists that were on my head alas! Everything disappeared and I found myself the pastor who preached at the front of the altar laying his hands on my head. How I had found my way to the altar without notice is still a mystery till today. No one comes unto the father except the Holy spirit draws him and why will draw anyone, it just because he wants assist to take off the heavy load that had been laid upon such a one. That is why Jesus says come unto me all ye that labour and are heavily laden and I will give you rest. On that fateful night, I dropped something that had been on my life as a weight and I received an unexplainable rest. See, there is rest in Jesus. There is spiritual rest in Jesus, you do not need to battle with any demonic spirit because they know that they have no right to come any closer because, whoever had seen Jesus and seen a consuming fire. The fire engulfs the individual and turn him or her to a consuming fire. When demons see such fire, they dear not come close. By the way, When you see Jesus, he inscribes boldly on your forehead, “touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm. So you carry the appellation that only demons can see,- the prophet and the anointed on of God. You don’t need to cast and bind any more. For they that know their God, they shall be strong and do exploits. You can’t see Jesus and not be strong spiritually, physically, morally, and every other wise. In fact the display of great exploits is entrenched in seeing Jesus. Friends, you cannot see Jesus and be sick or be in wants, or be depressed or become a victim of circumstances. I saw Jesus and he turned around my story, he will do the same for you as well. To be Continued next week

GIVE ME SOMETHING TO CARRY ALSO
Which among these men do you know? And what do you think is common to them? Take a look at them; Baba Gbile Akanni, Baba Adejare Adeboye, Baba David Oyedepo, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth E. Haggen, Rick Warren, Billy Graham, Joel Osteen, Baba Mike Bamiloye, Pastor Samuel Adeyemi, Chris Oyakilomen, Dr. Paul Eneche, Apostle Joshua Selman, Oyekan Dunsin, Lawrence Oyor, Victoria, Myles Munroe, Ach. Bishop Benson Idahosa, T.D Jakes, Baba, Joseph Ayo Babalola, Joyce Meyer, Catherine Cullman, Yongi Cho and a host of both living and dead men and women. What struck your heart as you sighted their names? Do you notice that they all carry or carried something for God that many people are tapping from?
As I listen to and watch these men and women across the globe, it done on me that these people actually carry something on their invisible hands which they spread like wild fire everywhere. Ah! They saw something that kept them on their toes!
Bible says in Hebrews 11 verse 33 that “who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.” These men really carried faith to conquer something for God o! What pricks my heart is that no matter how much they spread to the world from what they carry, it seems as if nothing diminished at all from it. It is just like someone scooping the ocean with a tea cup. Don’t get me wrong. I am not talking about men and women of faith only. One wonders when you see men and women who are making incredible and indelible marks in various sectors in life especially those who combine it with spirituality and faith. I am talking about men and women in business, academic, technology, music, entertainment, banking, political, agriculture, engineering, transportation, event planning, fashion, ICT, leadership, authors, orators, religious and many others, I am dazed, asking myself, where and how did these individuals carry whatever they carry? Then I ask myself, what am I also carrying to showcase or to share to the world that will impact many people?
While I pondered on this, I Corinthians 4:7 flashed across my mind. Especially the aspect of what do you have that was not given to you by God?
“…What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?”
By implication, if anyone needs to carry anything like those men and women that were mentioned and those not mentioned, it could only be received from God for no one has anything that was not actually given by God. Ah! Since that time, it had been a serious burden and an inner cry unto God, saying God, give me something also to carry to impact the world. You see, there are numerous people spread across the world who were born just as I am born, born complete and until they die, there will be nothing significant recorded about them. Nobody ever knew that they ever existed except their immediate family members. Nothing to show that they came to this earth. Whereas, the noise of a handful individuals are everywhere globally because of what they carry from God. So I intensified my prayers too, kai! God give me something too to carry that will be noised abroad for your name sake. How many years do I have to live? Time is no more on my side, so whatever that I must carry must be done now!
The case of the young Donkey as written in Luke 19:30 and Mark 11: 2 threw more light on the one that that God has given to anyone carry on the back of his or her life, on the back of his or her profession, on the back of ideas and there will be a clear difference and great noise of such an individual abroad. Brother Gbile Akanni said it Jesus is a magnet that attract all men. When Jesus is lifted up by men, he will draw all men unto himself. Invariably, since you are the one who is lifting up Jesus, all men seem to been drawn to you. When Paul Encountered Jesus, Jesus told him in Acts chapter 9, that I must show you how you will carry the name of Jesus…
So as I Prayed unto God to give me something to carry for him, he said, I heard him say, I give you Jesus to carry for me and place him on the lives of the teenagers globally. And this is what I am committed to do for the rest of my life in writing, acting and counselling via social media. Therefore, as you read articles and watch clips of messages on this website, I present to you Jesus Christ, the son of God, Most High who is able to mold you into the expected shape for global relevance.
Welcome unto Jesus.

My Life// a short drama
The stage opens with a shout of pain and then the lady called student is seen running up on stage. She ran in pain from one side of the stage to another as she was being flogged by a man called Life. As she was under the torment, another man came in and showed concerns
Man: ah! Ah! Student, defend yourself, common defend yourself from this torment!
Life: flogs student the more
Student: screams in pain
Man: student, you have all that it takes to hinder life from inflicting this torment on you? Student, you can escape the torment of life!
Student: Adviser, I don’t have what it takes to defend myself from the torment of life
Life: (in amusement and fun) flogs students again and again
Student: (knees in pains from the flog and screams louder)
Adviser: Ah ah! Do something, student! Do something or else, this life may injure you without remedy
Student: adviser, I have practically done all that is humanly possible- I employed the help of my friends, I even followed the advice of my mom and dad, it worked but not satisfactorily, I applied rules and regulations to fight life, I introduced the power of money to entice life so that it could stop this torment but wouldn’t stop, I am tired, I am fed up of this life! I don’t even understand my life anymore, I don’t understand why I am here self
Adviser: ohhhh oh! Ohhhhh! says my people are destroyed for lack of wisdom, Student, you are about to be destroyed by this life because you lack a pearl of superior wisdom that can handle this life of yours. I can now figure out why you have not defeated life.
Proverbs 3:13,17 and 18:- 13 Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, 17 Her ways are pleasant, and all her paths are peaceful. 18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.
Student, do you know why you have remained under the torment of this life? It is because you have not found superior wisdom. People devoid of this wisdom do not enjoy a pleasant, blessed and peaceful life. Life mistreat and misguide them, But if you handle this life by the superior wisdom, life supplies blessings
Student: how can I find superior wisdom?
Adviser: the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Once you fear the Lord, the basic wisdom to handle life comes.
It is written in 1 Corinthians 1:24 and 25:- 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
So, Jesus Christ, the Lord is the Wisdom of God and with his power, you can control your life never to mistreat you!
Life: ( lifts his whip again to strike student)
Student: (shouts) stop it in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord. Have you not heard, touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm?
Superior wisdom says in Psalm 144:15 “Happy are the people whose God is the LORD.”
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Life, I am no longer afraid, I am no longer dismayed, I have the strength of the Lord to overcome you because the Lord will help and uphold me. I will know the truth and the truth shall set me free, (John 8:32) I know the truth now to be the son. And so He that the Son sets free is free indeed. A life I have been set free. (John 8:36)
Student (requests that life gives her the whip, he did and then student took control of life and leads him out of the stage) Background song begins: Jesus sets me free, why should I be bound?3x
Why should I be bound?
The End

At the Tail End
(A speechless short drama)
A Young man is seen in a desert lying down in the vast dry expanse of soil famished, dying, Extremely weak. He lied down facing the sky while his legs and arms widely opens. Dust, dryness, suffering from tiredness and lack of water are noticeable on him as his lips were so dry and whitish. He was trying to gather some silver from his mouth to swallow so that his throat can at least be wet. He looked slowly to the right and left by turning his head to see if there could be help coming but non. Then he was trying to muster some words calling for the help of God but his voice was not forthcoming.
As he closed his eyes to die, suddenly, a man appeared from nowhere in a white suit with a keg (white body and red cap) he tapped him. He did not wake, tapped again and again then the man managed to wake. The man in suit presented the keg of water to him and hurriedly the man struggles to stand up for a drink and the man in suit helped him by sitting by his side, assisted him by placing his hands behind him for support and the opened the keg, and connects the mouth of the keg to the mouth of the man. He gulped in water fast and fast and fast and then sweat oose out with heat. He rested a bit then the man in the suit stood up from the ground, stretches his hand to him. The famished man looked sternly at his hands and then his face and then he lifted his hands to connect with the waiting stretched hand of the man in the suit. While standing firm, the man in suit dragged the famished man up from the ground and supports him by wrapping his right arm around his waist. The famished man took steps following the example of the man in the suit. And gradually, the steps taken are getting better and better and faster and faster. The man in suit removed his hands from the waist of the famished man but now clasped his palm into the palm of the famished man. The famished man is seen in a happy and excited state, full of strength. He jogged and skipped as both walked along. The famished man is seen telling the man in the suit that made both of them laugh as it is seen in their reaction as they walk on in the desert. Then hand in hand they skipped, jogged as they get smaller and smaller in vision until they were no more seen.
Then the biblical inscription appears in succession on the screen thus:
Isaiah 41:13 ESV
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
Isaiah 41:10 ESV
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Psalm 9:9
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a great help in times of distress.
THE END

He Died
The whole atmosphere in Layi’s compound was bitter and moody. People sat in clusters -in twos and threes wearing faces contoured by sadness. Only hisses and hushed voices filled the air, with some shrugging and clapping their hands in disbelief at intervals.
At a close distance, a group of Clergymen alighted from a white unlabelled bus and hurried into the compound through the footpath of the gate. In the sitting room, they met a crowd of women and men from the neighbourhood and relations. Bishop Gideon, the leader of the clergy team stared at the young widow, face swollen from crying. He sat beside her and placed his right arm on her shoulders, “Mrs Layi, this is not the end, though it’s tough it’s never the end…”
She scanned his face, rested her head on his shoulder and burst into tears. She bemoaned “whyyyyyyy? Bishop Gideon, why meeeeeeeee?!” Tears rolled down her cheeks as she continued to speak, her lips quivering. One of the women sitting close rushed to take the handkerchief from her and wiped her face.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, God understands, He does!”
“Bishop, just this afternoon… My husband woke from a nap and told me he saw many people gathered in this compound. I laughed and called him Joseph the dreamer, poking his chest with my finger. Even further teased him saying he was hallucinating because he had malaria. I laughed as I walked to the kitchen to finish up dinner preparation. Sir, he went out of the house afterwards from our discussion just to attend to the rabbits that were screaming in the cage when I heard his agonizing scream. I ran out to check what was the matter and sir, it was his lifeless body I met on the ground beside the cage with his entire tongue out of his mouth and his eyes widely opened.”
She burst into a loud bitter cry that spread through the room, infecting the other people. The Bishop dabbed the corner of his eyes with a white handkerchief as he continued to pacify her.
She jerked, twisting her body so that she was looking him in the eyes “Sir, my husband promised me that he was going to stay with me till old age. He kept on emphasising before we got married 10 years ago just as the wheat cannot be harvested until its ripe age, so, he will not go to the grave before his old age. It was a divine promise to him that he will not die, but proclaim the praises of God on the land of the living. Sir, were all these lies from his Heavenly Father? Even at the beginning of this year, he gathered all of us together, his 2 children and I then said that his Heavenly Father gave him assignments which he ought to do aggressively. He said he had been anointed to preach, heal, and deliver the young people. He said that this was to be a global assignment for him for the next forty years starting from this year. Ah! This is just January sir and he is dead? ! We’re all these mere empty talks? He attacked these assignments with full force as he spend his night hours praying, studying the word and reading materials just to prepare himself for the great exploits. Bishooooop! So all these have come to a sudden end just like that!” Mrs Layi screamed “Jeeeeeeeesus” and stretched herself in agony while the woman drew near again to hold her and rested her head on her chest. She shifted her plastic chair closer to her and the Bishop withdrew his arm. He folded them against his chest and sighed heavily. He focused on the ceiling as though there was an image of Pastor Layi pasted on it.
After some minutes of staring blankly, the Bishop jolted from his seat and stretched his hands, “I feel a strong urge to pray right now.” He paced the room then halted, “There is a thick demonic cloud gathered in this place, Jesus! The wicked hide in the dark and shoot arrows at the righteous. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. surely they will gather, but because their gathering is not by the Lord, the Lord shall raise his standard against them and they shall flee in more than seven different places.”
He lifted his hands towards the Heavens and clasped them and spoke in tongues for a few minutes. “Psalm 68 says May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him. As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away; as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God. But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds — his name is the LORD– and rejoice before him. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. When you went out before your people, O God, when you marched through the wasteland, the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. Why will you shed the innocent blood of the servant of the Most High, have you not heard, touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm? Is it not written for I bear the mark of the Lord upon my forehead, let no man trouble me? He that breaks an edge, the serpent will bite! Did you not hear that God said, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord. Yes! The time to pour out the indignation of the Lord has come. Listen, you who hides in the dark to torment the innocent”
He paced the room a few times and turned to a random man with sleepy eyes and placed a hand on his shoulder
“Psalm 97 says The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice. Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side.”
Suddenly, the woman who drew Mrs Layi close to herself a few minutes ago began to scream, “Stop it! Stop it! Ye! Yeh! Fire! See the captain of the lord’s army! He has arrived with his huge flamy sword against us! This is unbearable! I am the one! Let me say everything! Captain, sir, I am sorry that I laid my hands on your servant! I killed him! I killed the gentleman oooooh! I am sorry oh Lord! The plans that you committed to his hands was against our plans. We already received a commitment to put all young people of this time and age in several bondages that cannot be broken until they have wasted their life. Too much focus is on them to free them from addictions, dangerous lust and passionate craving for materialism, sexual perversion with great intensity, strong hatred for spiritual matters, continuous pursuance of emptiness. Sir, we are sternly battling for their souls, intellect, strength and entire hearts. Our kingdom needs them badly sir. And now, your servant, pastor Layi took up that commission to rescue them from these eternal plans of ours- that will be a colossal loss for us, but ah! I have accepted a wrong assignment, I stepped on the tail of the cobra, I have placed my head into the mouth of the lion of the tribe of Judah! Please, I am sincerely sorry, Captain!”
Bishop had a glimpse into the Spirit and saw the Captain of the Lord’s army too as He drew closer to this woman. As He raised His sword of fire to strike her, with Pastor Layi excited about the revenge, he fell from his bed to the floor in his room in real life!
He woke up and discovered that he had dreamed. He sat up on his bed and grabbed his chest. He scanned around the room for his wife, then settled when he saw her coming from the kitchen.
“My dear, you are awake. Your dinner is almost ready. Just then the rabbits started squealing loudly outside. He turned in the direction of the noise and back at his wife and screamed “The blood of Jesus”
Listen, Psalm 21 verse 11 says,
“Though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.”
I decree that the plans of the wicked shall not prevail over you this year in the name of Jesus.
The End

COMPONENTS OF A GOOD LIFE FOR TEENAGERS. Genesis 28-29
Life is a journey that is time band. Hence, it must be given urgent, timely and serious attention if it must maximized and result in full joy. A life can be good, it’s actually by choice. In my study of Genesis 28- 29, the journey of life of Jacob right his parental relationship to his experience with Laban summarizes what everyone is likely to encounter in the journey of his or life. Ones’ disposition to it matters a lot to birth either a good or bad life. I like to point out what then should be the component of a good life below.
Every good life must experience Parental influence essential for your relocation. It is not necessary that your parental relationship or dealing with you must be soothing, palatable or enjoyable. If it is then, you may be too relax to remain in your comfort zone which could blind fold you from seeing the reality of life in time. Some parents may be seen as brutal, unloving, partial, uncaring, unavailable, over protecting, under protecting, poor, dangerous, comparing, selfish or stingy etc. While some may be wayward, nagging, bad example, street fighter, dubious etc, some may be lavishing, meeting all wants and needs of a child, meticulous, loving, etc. whichever way your parent seems to be, has great potentiality to influence either negatively or positively their child. Such influence in turn determine where such a child groomed under them would land in life. So your relocation to a location in life is determined by the direct parental influence. However, at a point in time, every child should grow to determine to identify the right from the wrong. Did you cry while growing up with your parent? Did you wish you never had such a parent? Did you wish never to be detached from them? The feeling you caught while with your parent should teach and direct your attention to what you should either allow to be duplicated in your own life or never to surface again. What lesson have you learn from daddy and mummy by now? Does it worth replicating or not? If yes, is it socially acceptable? And if yes, is it godly? is it divinely compliant? Do ask the same with the from the negative perspective too? For Jacob, Bible says, the father loved Esau while the mother loved Jacob and each of them struggled for how the one they loved must outshine the other. That singular action bred Enmity which birthed a depression, confusion and desire for murder. Do you know that it was that situation that led to the relocation of Jacob from his home town to Padan Aram? So what happened at home that led you to who you are right now? Can you work around it to relocate yourself to the right side of life in order to have a good life.
Every good life must experience a dream crises. Nothing exists without its purpose. So naturally, every human being must get to a point in life when questions of “why am I in life” will flood one’s mind. Genesis 28:12 says Jacob dreamt that he saw (his manufacturer who told him what he was to be doing at teen age. For so many teenagers, it’s a big crises to determine what they actually exist on earth to do. It is unfortunate that at the tertiary educational level, as an undergrad, some young people still don’t really know what they want to do in life. Can I tell you that to discover your purpose, first you must identify your manufacturer. You will see that a label or sticker or engraved logo is usually placed on any manufactured product, it’s to show which manufacturer birthed that product. So which logo is on you? There is a need for you to identify with who manufactured you. You may be saying that it was your mom and dad that gave birth to you, yes absolutely correct. But the cells that formed you were a combination of a careful divine selection so that the union of your mom and dad who are from different background and lineage, brought about the right cells to be combined to form you. Do you know that out of millions of cells only you emerged which means that millions of other potential lives had to die for you to emerge. Don’t you know it’s because of something unique that was deposited in your genetic composition that is not in the others is the reason for your creation. How will you now land on earth after all those processes and yet you think there is still no purpose for your existence? No scientist did the combination, neither is it natural but a divine hand did the arrangement. You were formed with the right composition for the right generation. Therefore accept and acknowledge the God who formed your composition. So the next thing after the acknowledgement is to study the manual that accompanied your you when you were manufactured- the Bible. It is written in Joshua 1:8, “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” (NLT) So, the manual will show to you what you are to do and how to prosper and succeed in what you do. Read it, study it, memorize it, love it, enjoy it. Can I suggest another easy way to discover your purpose? Do you know that the course of study or whatever you are learning is actually your purpose around which you need to form a dream? Your profession is your provision for purpose. You committed virtually more than fifty percent of your life in it, you committed your parent to finance it for years. Check by rough calculation how much fund had been pumped into it right from primary to PhD level? So purpose is what you were born to learn or know at your early part of your life for which you are happy in order to meet needs of other people for the remaining part of your life. That profession that you paid for to learn is your purpose, build your dream around it in line with your divine manual.
Every good life must have a constant means of refreshing . There is nothing that doesn’t get tired so you must find a way to get out such situation. Refresh to Refire. Just imagine that the engine of your car runs for a whole year or even for a whole month, it will break down. That principle applies to all things. There must be intermittent break in schools, programs, systems, life, work, etc. just as it applies to those things it also applies to human beings. There is a need to shut down yourself, your activities so that it could rest and then be refreshed. A man of God said, whenever he goes for a break at a hotel all alone, he comes back and sees things differently and clearly. Refresh means to shut down your system and reboot. When you reboot, the system goes back to a state of default and works better, smatter, and smoother. In the same way, every human being is expected to have intermittent break for a refreshing moment so that you can last longer think better and perform better to your satisfaction. Don’t you know why God created the night? It’s basically to address the matter of refresh. And do you know the wonders of the night? It’s during the night that the strength is rejuvenated, stress is depleted, it is during the night that bones grow longer, some systems of the body shut down like the stomach, even God found time to rest. Bible says he rested for a whole seventh day. If there wasn’t any usefulness of ,gain or benefit in rest or taking an off, the creator of life would not also rest. Rest for a refreshing moment. Genesis 29:1 and 2 say that Jacob who had travelled on a journey ( of life) and got to a well. Bible says that was where flocks of sheep after walking around also, is where they are watered ( refreshing), read it again. “Then Jacob hurried on, finally arriving in the land of the east. Genesis 29:2 He saw a well in the distance. Three flocks of sheep and goats lay in an open field beside it, waiting to be watered. But a heavy stone covered the mouth of the well. “if you want a good life, find a way to pause, take a rest from the usual. Take a break from eating, take a break from making decisions in a hurry, take a break from traveling, from work, etc and go for a retreat. In the retreat, sleep, take a shower, eat, pray, watch Musicals and movies that can inspire you, read motivational books, attend seminars, workshops, Go for a show, visit recreational centres, move away from your normal environment just for a while. All these could refresh you and enhance your performance in life. When you are refreshed, you can plan how to fulfil your purpose and found strength to run your purpose with precision and accuracy. Find the well where you can be watered.
A good life enters correct relationships. No man can survive in isolation. There must be an interaction because humans are social beings. It is expected that human beings must enter into relationships and not necessarily a relationship that will end in marriage. There are several kinds of relationships that can enhance good life. We can have study relationship, business relationships, spiritual relationship, research relationship, mentor- mentee relationship, discipleship relationship, crush relationship, marriage relationships, family relationship and many healthy relationships that can enhance a good life. It is not a crime or a sin to enter one. Chapter 29 of Genesis depicts that Jacob initiated a relationship which led into a creation of family relationship, marriage relationship and business relationship. All the properties and wealth that were acquired by Jacob in his life, began from the relationship that he started. Relationship that you start could either enhance your good life or degrade your life. Relationship that you enter into could enhance the fulfilment of your purpose of destroy your purpose. Relationship could either make you rich / wealthy or make you poor. Amnon, the first born of King David entered into an ungodly sexual relationship as well as Dinah, the only daughter of Jacob and these two died prematurely and gruesomely. Almighty Samson lost his sense of seeing and lost the spirit behind his greatness just because of an ungodly relationship. Whereas, it was a relationship that the twelve disciples of Jesus entered that birthed honour, patriarch of faith and respect upon them until date. So relationships can slow you down as far as purpose is concerned and it can make your journey in life smooth, fast and good. Which relationship are you in? Is it enhancing a good and satisfying life for you? If not, it’s not late to make a U-turn and start a new one.
Friend, on a final note, you don’t need to pray for a good life, see Bible says you just need to stand at the Crossed junction, look for the old and correct path and determinedly for it with utmost discipline. Don’t forget that there is a way that seems right also to man but the end is distraction that is why Jesus said, learn from me for I am meek and lowly. You can live a good and satisfying life. And if the one you have being living is not good enough, you can decide to change it. Just as jack Canfield said, you can move from where you are to where you want to be, you don’t need to shift blames to anyone or anything. James Clare says it’s a function of an accumulation of tiny habits which when practiced consistently could lead to a great life that glitters like gold. Make your choice now, young man, young lady, time is no longer on your side.
